One charged after pursuit

Arrested: Christopher Norris, male, 31 years of age
Charges:
- Resisting law enforcement-fleeing in a vehicle (felony)
- Carrying a handgun without a license (felony)
- criminal recklessness (felony)
- leaving the scene of a crash
Summary:
While on Patrol, Detectives in the Gang & Violent Crimes Unit observed a Maroon Mustang driving recklessly and attempting to evade be observed by a squad car. Detectives attempted a traffic stop on the lot of the Shell Gas station at McKinnie Avenue and Hessen Cassel Road. The Mustang drove off at a high rate of speed.
Detectives gave chase in pursuit of the suspect car. The Mustang crashed into two parked cars, continued for about a half a block then came to a stop. As Detectives’ squads approached, the suspect put the car in reverse and rammed the squad car, damaging it.
Multiple squad cars and officers arrived, and took the suspect into custody. After the suspect was removed from the car and taken into custody, Detectives observed an AK-74 style 5.56 mm pistol sitting on the driver’s seat. The AK was loaded with a 100 round drum magazine, was charged, and safety off. Norris is a convicted felon. He was charged with the above listed offenses.
