Update from the City of Fort Wayne on the status of the Bowser buildings:

(March 23, 2017) – The City of Fort Wayne has been notified by the McMillen Foundation, the owner of the Bowser buildings, that it’s their desire for the buildings to be demolished. The McMillen Foundation has communicated their decision with Indiana Landmarks. The City of Fort Wayne supports the wishes of the McMillen Foundation. Work at the site will restart next week and take a number of months to complete. The City of Fort Wayne appreciates the hard work and dedication displayed by community advocates who were supportive of possible redevelopment opportunities. However, efforts over several years have not led to a developer expressing interest in the properties due to the conditions of the structures. Instead of allowing the buildings to further deteriorate, we want to ensure that the property is an asset to the neighborhood and can be used for recreation purposes by the Renaissance Pointe YMCA.
