Thar she blooms!
No, it’s not “Talk like a pirate day” and you’re not on a whaling ship either. Although, after a good whiff of this flower at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, you might think of rotting whale flesh.
This is the Amorphophallus, which takes up to seven years to bloom. The photo was taken last Friday, March 17, 2017. We’re sure the bloom has opened up more since then. While the bloom will last a while, the odor will not.
