Location: 4100 block of Avondale Drive
Victims: Adult male/deceased
On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at 10:57PM, police officers with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department heard several gunshots coming from the 4100 block of Avondale Drive. As the officers were arriving to investigate, someone called 911 reporting that a male had been shot in front of a home in the 4100 block of Avondale Drive. Officers arrived and located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds on a porch of a home, and initially determined him to be in critical condition. Officers performed first aid on the victim, but medics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.
At this time there is no information available as to what led up to the shooting. Detectives are currently on scene, searching for and speaking with witnesses. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene, searching for and collecting evidence. It is unknown if this shooting is related to any others recently, as a motive has not been established. There is no suspect information. A k-9 track was attempted but was unsuccessful.
The exact cause and manner of death, as well as the identity, will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
