Critical Shooting Investigation

Location: 2400 block of Gay Street

Victim: Adult/Female

Details:

On August 10, 2016, at 10:52 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a female shot in the 2400 block of Gay Street. Officers arrived and located an adult female in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics determined her to be in critical condition and took her to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Initial information indicates the female was standing in the street when she was shot. It is not presently known what led to the shots being fired, or if she was the intended target or not. Crime scene units are processing the scene, searching for and collecting any evidence. Detectives are going door to door searching for anyone who may have witnessed the incident. There is no suspect information.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
