Hip pain treatment highlighted July 28th

News release from the Lutheran Health Network:

The Orthopedic Hospital surgery series will highlight hip pain treatment July 28

(June 17, 2016) – Having a hitch in your hip can really slow you down. Daily activities are more challenging and less enjoyable. Even the simplest tasks – walking, climbing stairs, standing – are painful. If hip pain is keeping you from living the active lifestyle you enjoy, anterior-approach hip replacement may be the solution. The anterior approach is less invasive and leads to quicker recovery than traditional hip replacement surgery.

Orthopedic surgeon Timothy van de Leur, MD, a specialist in hip replacement surgery, will be joined by nurse practitioner Cindy Gorrell, NP, at a free information session called “Is Hip Pain a Hassle? Take Back Your Life” on Thursday, July 28, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The presentation will take place in Kachmann Auditorium on the lower level of Medical Office Building Two on the Lutheran Hospital campus, 7910 W. Jefferson Blvd. Free parking is available in the south parking garage across from the Lutheran Cancer Center.

Attendees are invited to:

  • Find out more about the benefits of inpatient and outpatient anterior-approach hip replacement surgery
  • Learn about The Orthopedic Hospital’s PACE Clinic and Joint Camp services, which provide preoperative evaluation, education and support to maximize outcomes
  • Get answers to questions about inpatient and outpatient anterior-approach hip replacement options

Register for this information session by July 21 at LutheranHealth.net. For additional information, call 435-6716.

This is the third installment of The Orthopedic Hospital of Lutheran Health Network’s 2016 surgery series. Hand, finger and wrist procedures will be the topic of the September session. Specific details will be provided closer to the event.
