Shooting, Critical Injury

Date: June 15th, 2016

Time: 4:21 p.m.

Location: Avondale Drive and Baxter Street

Victim: Male

Details:

On 6/15/16 at approximately 4:21 p.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of Avondale Drive and Baxter Street in regards to a shooting. The Complainant party called Police advising that she heard gunshots and located a male lying in the alley with gunshot wounds. Officers responded to the area and located a male in the alley just West of Avondale Drive and North of Baxter Street.

The male was taken to a local hospital in critical condition by paramedics.

The identity of the male is unknown at this time. There were people in the area when the shooting occurred. The potential witnesses are being interviewed by detectives to gather additional information. A K9 unit conducted a canine track to determine the possible path of the suspect and terminated the track in the 4000 block of Warsaw St.

Crime scene collected physical evidence for processing, while detectives canvassed the area and spoke with potential witnesses. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
