South Bend Walks Off on TinCaps to Complete Sweep
Fort Wayne returns home Tuesday to open 6-game homestand at Parkview Field

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (April 24, 2016) — For the second time in three days, the South Bend Cubs walked off on Fort Wayne with a 7-6 win in 10 innings at Four Winds Field.
South Bend left fielder Eloy Jimenez smacked the game-winning single to left field with the bases loaded in the 10th to complete the four-game sweep of the TinCaps (9-9) on Sunday afternoon.
Fort Wayne’s 6-0 lead withered when the Cubs (11-6) scored five runs in the fifth. South Bend then tied the game, 6-6, in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by right fielder Eddy Julio Martinez.
The TinCaps posted four runs in the top of the first inning, as Cubs starter Carson Sands walked the first four batters of the afternoon, center fielder Michael Gettys reeled one in with a sacrifice fly and designated hitter Luis Tejada yanked a two-run double to left field.
Fort Wayne strung together three consecutive singles in the fifth, the third a run-scoring knock from first baseman Ty France to stretch the lead to 5-0. Third baseman Carlos Belen added an RBI groundout to make it 6-0.
Cubs right-hander James Norwood (W, 2-0) stranded TinCaps at first and second in the top of the 10th after Fort Wayne southpaw Jerry Keel (L, 0-3) notched a huge strikeout in the bottom of the ninth to force extras.France (2-for-4, R, RBI, BB), Tejada (2-for-5, 2 RBI) and catcher A.J. Kennedy (2-for-3) tallied multi-hit efforts.
