Bedrock Dig Supports City’s Future
Downtown Forum Shares Details of Deep Rock Tunnel

(March 3, 2016) – Area residents are invited to learn more about Fort Wayne’s deep rock tunnel at a community forum on Monday, March 7 in the auditorium of the Allen County Public Library, downtown.

The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and provides attendees access to hands on displays that include bedrock samples taken more than 150 feet below the earth’s surface. A presentation will begin around 6:15 p.m. and, then, our panel of engineers and geologists will take questions.

The tunnel is a major component of the City’s agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce combined sewer overflows into our rivers. A bid award will be issued later this year and construction will begin in 2017. When completed, the tunnel will help clean up our rivers, protect neighborhoods and serve generations to come.

The free event next Monday is one of two that will take place this month.
