News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House Fire, 1700 block Oakland Street
(February 21, 2016) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire this morning in the 1700 block of Oakland Street around 4:24 a.m.
The first Engine on the scene reported heavy fire and smoke from the structure and applied water from the exterior of the structure before entering to search for any occupants. The remaining Crews that were assigned to the incident took care of an issue with the house to the north as well as searching for occupants. Due to the large volume of fire, crews were forced to control the fire from the outside after it was determined that no one was inside.
Crews will remain on the scene for overhaul during the morning hours. No injuries were reported and the fire remains under investigation.
The FWFD was assisted on the scene by TRAA, FWPD, AEP, NIPSCO and NCE.
