FWDC Presents: Axis Dance Company
Oakland, CA-based innovative dance troupe to take center stage March 12!

(January 18, 2016) — Experience a powerful performance from world-acclaimed dance troupe and regular guest artists on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, featuring dancers with and without disabilities as AXIS Dance Company takes the stage, March 12, 2016 at the Arts United Center, 300 East Main Street!

Since 1989, Fort Wayne Dance Collective has brought a guest dance company to Fort Wayne to inspire, educate, entertain, and enhance the community. This year FWDC is pleased to welcome AXIS Dance Company (AXIS) from Oakland, CA. AXIS exists to change the face of dance and disability and has paved the way for a powerful contemporary dance form called “physically integrated dance.” AXIS has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad sharing its cutting edge artistic and education/outreach work with thousands. AXIS Dance Company is a pioneer in changing the way people view disabilities.

On March 12, AXIS will perform “to go again,” a new dance theater work by acclaimed choreographer Joe Goode, which brings to light issues facing our nation’s veterans and addresses their resilience following severe life changes. AXIS will also perform “Divide” and “Dix minutes plus tard.” Following the performance, the audience will be invited to join AXIS for a Q&A session.

“Audiences unaccustomed to seeing such inventive movement generated from what could be considered limitation may find themselves re-evaluating their own ideas of artistic perfection.” – The Chicago Tribune
