2016 Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series Schedule Set
24 Area Schools to Play at Parkview Field This Spring

(January 20, 2016) — For a third consecutive year, Parkview Field will host the Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series in 2016. Over the course of six doubleheaders this April and May when the TinCaps are on the road, 24 different high school teams in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio will have the chance to showcase their talents at Minor League Baseball’s top-rated ballpark.

“We couldn’t be happier to see how the Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series has become an annual event at Parkview Field,” TinCaps President Mike Nutter said. “Like we always say, Parkview Field is about much more than just TinCaps baseball and this is a perfect example. Parkview Sports Medicine is helping to give these kids an amazing opportunity to be like big-leaguers for a game and we’re happy to host. It’s been great to see how the quality of youth and high school baseball seems to improve in our region every year.”

Thanks to Parkview Sports Medicine underwriting costs, the 12 games will actually serve as fundraisers for each participating school. For every $5.00 ticket sold, $4.00 goes to the schools. ($1.00 will go to the Parkview Field Ballpark Maintenance and Improvement Fund.)

As in the past, all 24 games in the Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series will be broadcast live on both TV (Comcast Network 81) and radio (ESPN Radio 106.7-FM).

Just like during a TinCaps game, there’ll be giveaways, entertainment, and concessions for fans. Meanwhile, the high school players will have their headshots featured on Parkview Field’s big video board.

“We’ve seen first-hand just how much the players, coaches and parents enjoy this unique opportunity,” said Julie Fleck, COO, Parkview Ortho Hospital. “It’s great to watch, but it also supports their programs in a creative way. Our underwriting of the costs associated with the series allows the schools to receive a majority of the proceeds of the ticket sales. Important funding is funneled back into the athletic programs allowing the schools to provide resources to the athletes that may otherwise go unfunded. It’s a win-win for everyone involved and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Of the 24 schools competing in the 2016 Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series, six are participating for the first time. The doubleheaders will be played from April 19-21 and May 3-5 with the first games beginning at 4:30 pm and the nightcaps set for 7:00 pm.
