News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:
Bank Robbery
Date: Thursday, January 28, 2016
Time: 10:49 a.m.
Location: Chase Bank, 204 East Pettit Avenue
Details:
At approximately 10:49 a.m. this morning Fort Wayne police were dispatched to 204 East Pettit Avenue, the Chase Bank on a 911 call reporting a bank robbery. Once on scene bank employees indicated that a male entered the bank produced a note that indicated he was armed and demanded cash.
The suspect was last seen leaving the immediate area on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. There were two patrons in the bank at the time of the robbery. The suspect was described as being a light complexioned male Hispanic or black, wearing a gray hoodie which was pulled tightly over his head. Over the gray hoodie the suspect wore a unique black coat that had shoulder straps that ran parallel to his shoulder seam. Some type of chrome or silver fastener was at the end of each shoulder strap. Over the left breast pocket of the coat is a silver or chrome zipper. On the cuff of each coat sleeve was a chrome or silver button. The suspect wore black gloves.
The bank is situated near many retail businesses that were busy with customers so the likelihood of the suspect being observed by others is great. If anyone saw the suspect or a vehicle that he might have used to leave the area, they are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867).
This incident remains under investigation by the local Bank Robbery Task Force.
