IPFW Students Explore Careers in Architecture and Design at Local Business

(January 7, 2016) — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) students will continue their career exploration experience outside the usual Internet search, classroom presentation, or panel discussion. IPFW Career Services’ spring semester Immersion Excursion program takes place January 22 with a visit to Design Collaborative, a Fort Wayne-based design company with a passion for customer service. Students will meet with architects, interior designers, project managers, and company partners to learn about Design Collaborative’s impact on the markets they operate in and the innovative tools they use to do their job.

Career Services half-day immersion trips take approximately 15 students and faculty members within the walls of selected regional companies in a variety of industries, giving them a ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse into company operations.

“The opportunity to network and learn from area companies that are leaders in their industry is an invaluable experience for our students,” said Ashley Calderon, director of IPFW Career Services. “At Design Collaborative students will have the opportunity to discover company culture, network with the leadership team, and connect with current company employees.”
