Critical Injury Infant, 3600 block of Ferndale Drive

Time: 2:38 p.m.

Location: 3600 block of Ferndale Dr.

Victim: 3 month Old

Details:

On 10/18/15 at approximately 2:38 PM Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 3600 block of Ferndale Drive in regards to a domestic battery. Upon arrival Officers determined that the initial complaint was over injury to a 3 month old infant. The complainant party noticed injury to the infant and called police out of concern. This caused an argument between the complainant party and the infant’s mother.

Medics made the scene and advised that the infant had injury to its head. The infant was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Once at the hospital and after further evaluation, the infant was downgraded to critical condition by hospital staff. There were also prior injuries that were located on the infant.

The scene was held and the mother of the infant taken in for questioning. Department of Child Services was notified and made the scene. There were other children at the residence that needed care and supervision. Crime scene made the scene and processed the scene for evidence.

The infant remains at the hospital in critical condition, were it is undergoing a battery of test. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and Department of Child Services.
