News release from the Three Rivers Festival:
Three Rivers Festival to honor Indiana heritage for the 2016 Parade Theme
The Lutheran Health Network Three Rivers Festival Parade has been approved for the Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project
(October 13, 2015) – In a presentation to Mrs. Karen Pence on Tuesday at the History Center, the 2016 Lutheran Health Network Three Rivers Festival Parade theme will be announced to be Indiana Bicentennial. Celebrate History – Ignite the Future.
In September, Three Rivers Festival was notified of acceptance and endorsement as an Indiana Bicentennial Commission Legacy Project. The 48th Three Rivers Festival will be dedicated to celebrating Indiana – its rich history and promising future.
In his speech, Jack Hammer, Three Rivers Festival Executive Director, notes: “Parade participants can incorporate the rich history and heritage of Hoosier pride in their floats and marching units. The possibilities are endless and the Three Rivers Festival is honored to be selected to share in the impact this project will have on Indiana’s legacy and future.”
Stipends will continue to be offered thanks to Sweetwater Sound Inc. to encourage first-time float building and to help fund local high school marching bands.
Applications and a complete set of rules for the Lutheran Health Network Three Rivers Festival Parade and the Sweetwater Sound Inc. stipend program will be available on the Three Rivers Festival website, www.threeriversfestival.org, or by emailing info@threeriversfestival.org.
Hammer concluded his speech by inviting everyone to be a part of this 48-year tradition by coming to see the passion of our community pride and to Create Great Memories at the 2016 Three Rivers Festival.
