2nd annual Doggone Best Chili Challenge gets fired up
Raising money and awareness fort he Allen County SPCA

(September 24, 2015) – A chili cook-off to benefit the Allen County SPCA will be held at Lucky Harley-Davidson, 6315 Illinois Road (at I-69) in Fort Wayne on Saturday, September 26 from noon – 3:00 p.m.

The chili challenge will feature up to 40 chili teams, each cooking their own special recipes and hoping chili fans will think their chili is the “doggone best”.

“We’re going to have every kind of chili imaginable,” says Bob Hoffman, event organizer. “Red, white and vegetarian, mild and wild, beans and no beans. There will be something here for everyone, and it’s all for a great cause.”

There will be blind-judged competition divisions for CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) chili, vegetarian chili, restaurant/commercial chili, and biker chili with awards in each category. Chili fans will sample chili to their heart’s content and cast their votes to decide who will win the coveted People’s Choice Award.

The event is open to the public and will also feature adoptable dogs from the Allen County SPCA, kids’ activities, a DJ, a kissing dog booth and a silent auction. Admission is only $5 for adults and includes unlimited chili tastings. Children under the age of 10 are free. The Fun 101.7 Weenie Wagon will be handing out free hot dogs, chips and bottled water until 2:00 p.m. Free parking is available.

Every dollar raised at this event will benefit the Allen County SPCA, which has been providing a safe haven for homeless cats and dogs in Northeast Indiana for more than 60 years.

The event’s website is www.doggonebestchili.org.
