Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne celebrates young men at the annual Passport to Manhood breakfast
Keith Busse is the 2015 Man of the Year and keynote speaker

(September 18, 2015) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne will celebrate its young men and their journey to manhood at the annual Passport to Manhood breakfast on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.

Keith Busse, founder of Steel Dynamics Inc. and current Chairman of the American Iron and Steel Institute, will be honored as the 2015 Man of the Year during the breakfast event. He will also present the keynote address.
The 2015 Young Man of the Year will also be announced during the breakfast. This honor will be awarded to a young Boys & Girls Club member who has demonstrated excellence in the areas of leadership, character, and community involvement.

The Young Man of the Year finalists include:

  • Jalen Bright, Brookmill Boys & Girls Club, a 7th grader at Kekionga Middle School
  • Gabriel Butler, Timothy L. Johnson Boys & Girls Club, a 4th grader at Timothy L. Johnson Academy
  • Donta Dozier, Fellowship Boys & Girls Club, a 5th grader at Prince Chapman Academy
  • Ronnie Miles, Fairfield Boys & Girls Club, a 10th grader at Heritage High School

The boys that participate in the Passport to Manhood program are encouraged to adopt the character virtues that will give them a positive start on their journey to manhood. The Passport groups meet throughout the year with trained Boys & Girls Club staff and community mentors. Both physical activities and straight talk about current issues facing boys and men contribute to the open and supportive atmosphere that emphasizes healthy lifestyle choices.

“We are deeply honored to celebrate the young men that participate in the Passport to Manhood program,” commented Joe Jordan, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, “We are equally honored to be recognizing the success of an important leader of our community, Keith Busse. He epitomizes what we would like our young men to value.”

The Passport to Manhood breakfast takes place at the Fairfield Boys & Girls Club, 2609 Fairfield Avenue on Wednesday, September 23, from 7:30 am to 9 am. Doors open at 7 am. Limited seating is still available by calling 260 744 0998, extension 112.
