USF Invites Community to Anniversary Mass and Reception
(September 3, 2015) — The University of Saint Francis will continue the celebration of its 125th Anniversary with a special Mass for the Solemnity of St. Francis of Assisi on Sunday, October 4 at 2 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Clinton Street. Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend will be the principal celebrant. Concelebrants will be Fr. David Meinzen, university chaplain, and other clergy who are friends of the university. The public is cordially invited to attend the Mass and celebrate with the USF community; reservations are not required.
St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of the University of Saint Francis, and as such, the Catholic Church permits his solemnity to be celebrated in place of the usual Sunday liturgy. Catholics who attend this Mass will satisfy their Sunday obligation.
The community is also invited to a reception starting at 3:30 p.m. at the USF Robert Goldstine Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Berry Street. Light refreshments will be served, and memories of the university’s first 125 years will be shared.
There is no charge to attend the reception, but reservations are requested at 125massandreception.eventbrite.com.

Founded in 1890 as a comprehensive university in the Catholic Franciscan tradition, USF offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate programs through the School of Health Sciences, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership and School of Creative Arts.
