Critical Pedestrian Injury Accident, 2500 block of Spy Run Avenue

Date: Monday, August 31, 2015

Time: 4:10 p.m.

Location: 2500 block of Spy Run Avenue

Victim: Female/Critical Condition

Details:

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police department are presently investigating an accident which took place at approximately 4:10 p.m. this afternoon involving a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle that had pulled onto a long drive leading to a place of business in the 2500 block of Spy Run Avenue.

The victim was running with a group of athletes from Concordia Lutheran High School on the Rivergreenway which runs adjacent to the private drive, when she indicated to her fellow track members that she was going to stop at the Burger King restaurant to use their bathroom. Not seeing the motor vehicle approaching she ran directly into its path and was struck. She was transported from the scene in serious condition but later downgraded to critical condition at a local hospital. The driver of the passenger car was not injured in the accident.

This remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
