Do it Best Delivers for SCAN
Commitment to Local Nonprofit Improves Children’s Garden

(August 12, 2015) – Mulching, weeding and planting; these are just the highlights of the project which Do it Best tackles later this week at the SCAN Children’s Garden at IPFW. A team of more than 20 volunteers from the corporation invested time and effort last Friday morning, August 14th, to beautify the 195,000 sq. ft. garden located on the north side of IPFW’s campus. This is the second year Do it Best has befriended the project.

“We are pleased to assist SCAN again this year in beautifying their Children’s Garden at IPFW. There’s no greater thrill for our team of home improvement experts than to see the immediate impact of their hard work on the landscaping and flower beds within this peaceful retreat,” stated Randy Rusk, Do it Best Communications Director.

The project, originally scheduled to be completed during the United Way Day of Caring, held this July, but rescheduled due to conflicts. Do it Best’s commitment to clean up the garden shows their investment in the community and SCAN. The value of one volunteer hour, according to the Independent Sector is $22.34. With more than 20 volunteers, each dedicating four hours, the value of Do it Best’s gift of time and talent totals more than $1,700.

Do it Best will plant two annual flower beds and re-mulch the SCAN Children’s Garden, which is often used for weddings, family picnics and community gatherings. The area will also host the upcoming SCAN Tailgate on September 17.
