Death Investigation

Fort Wayne police responded to the 3000 block of Maumee Avenue at 3:18 a.m. this morning after a 911 call reported a shooting at an “afterhours” club. Officers arrived to find a female down outside of the establishment the apparent victim of a shooting. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. A short time later police were notified of a second shooting victim that had been driven to a different hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, he was said to be in serious condition. The second victim does appear to be related to the Maumee Avenue scene.
Investigators have learned that a disturbance had taken place earlier in the evening involving several people at a different location. Those involved in the earlier incident later met up again on Maumee Avenue where the disturbance rekindled and shoots were fired.
Detectives are interviewing several patrons that may have witnessed the event to help establish a motive and to develop suspect information. We are asking anyone that might have information that will assist detectives with this investigation to contact Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867). This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
