New plans to be released at My City Summit for Quimby Village
Southside shopping center slated to become premier arts and entertainment center in Northeast Indiana

(July 30, 2015) – Recent developments concerning the Quimby Village shopping center will be released at the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) My City Summit Symposium at the Grand Wayne Convention Center on July 31, 2015 from 2-5:30 pm EST. Plans include the overhaul of the parking lot and redevelopment of the commercial spaces as well as details concerning cultural growth in the arts and entertainment field for this area.

The recent study on Quimby Village and surrounding areas, funded by the City of Fort Wayne supports the implementation of this development. The Gibbs Study detailed various areas in Fort Wayne and assessed the need for growth and development. This directly correlates to each current and potential business in the area, including the Clyde Theatre and its production company, Even Keel Event Productions (EKEP).

“Our vision for the Clyde, and Quimby Village as a whole, has been focused on the development of Northeast Indiana’s premier Arts and Entertainment district. With the Clyde Theatre being the largest standing room concert hall in the State of Indiana, it will bring new entertainment and events to Fort Wayne, which will promote cultural growth for the long term.” said Rick Kinney, President of EKEP.

YLNIs My City Summit showcases focus groups for the event and has chosen the Clyde Theatre their “Large Design Charrette” focus as a highly transformative project for Fort Wayne. Additional details regarding the entire area, including Quimby Village and riverfront development are being addressed during the 4-day event.

2015 marks the second annual My City Summit and a culmination of YLNI’s vision for supporting cultural and progressive projects in Fort Wayne. “This time, it’s more, ‘Let’s not just get people together, but let’s do something. That’s what we would like to encourage.” said Beth Bobay of YLNI.

“The development of the Clyde Theatre and Quimby Village revitalization has been in the works for 3 years. It’s an honor to be chosen in this grouping for the 2015 My City Summit. We look forward to the community relationships that this year’s event will develop and encourage everyone in the community and region to attend,” said Kinney. “Community development leaders often speak of place-making initiatives, quality of life improvement, river front development, entrepreneurial efforts and attracting and retaining the millennial generation. This is exactly what our project has brought to the table. What we are seeking is the public/private partnership that other projects currently benefit from. The design plans have been in the works with M.S.K.T.D. and Hagerman Construction for the past several months and are close to complete for the Clyde Theatre. Now that YLNI and Design Collaborative have stepped up to the table for the rest of Quimby Village, we now have a cohesive overall plan” said Kinney.

Details on Quimby Village will be addressed at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in the Anthony Wayne Ballroom A on Inly 31 2015 from 2-5:3Opm.
