Water Rescue, 7225 North River Road
(June 26, 2015) – After multiple days of search efforts between the Fort Wayne Fire Department, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and the New Haven Fire Department, a victim matching the description of the missing kayaker was pulled from the Maumee River.
Over the three day period search efforts were hindered due to recent rain fall which impacted the flood stage of the upstream rivers resulting in swift moving currents. This morning efforts started at 0700 consisting of expanded searches with the assistance from Indiana Search and Recovery and New Haven Fire Department Boat 10.
After deploying boats the victim was located east of the Kreager Park boat launch just before 0800 hrs. Allen County Coroner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy this afternoon to verify exact identification of the victim.
