Runoff from recent excessive rainfall, combined with forecast heavy rainfall, will continue the threat for flooding along area rivers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Safety message…Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. the water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for further statements and updated forecasts.

The Flood Warning has been extended for The Saint Marys River near Decatur

* until Tuesday afternoon.
* At 9 PM Thursday the stage was 25.0 feet and rising.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast…The river will rise to a crest near 25.2 feet around 2 PM Friday June 19 and fall below flood stage around 3 PM Monday June 22.
* At 24.5 feet…Major flooding is in progress with water at the top of the levee protecting the Central Soya Plant. US 224 at Decatur is closed by flood water and US Highway 33 near Wilshire, Ohio begins to flood. Extensive flooding of the east side of Decatur along with Bellmont High School occurs. Evacuations become
necessary.

The Flood Warning has been extended for The Saint Marys River at Muldoon Bridge

* until Monday evening.
* At 8 PM Thursday the stage was 19.7 feet and rising.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast…The river will rise to a crest near 20.0 feet around 8 PM Friday June 19 and fall below flood stage around 7 PM Sunday June 21.
* At 20.0 feet…A major flood is in progress and water is nearing the top of many levees. When the Muldoon Bridge gage reads 20.3 feet, the flood becomes a 100 year event.

The Flood Warning has been extended for The Little River above Huntington

* until Saturday evening.
* At 9 PM Thursday the stage was 17.8 feet and steady.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Forecast…The river will fall below the 15.0 foot flood stage
around 8 PM Friday June 19.
* At 18.0 feet…Extensive flooding is in progress.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 17.8 feet which occurred
on May 27 2011.

The Flood Warning has been extended for The Maumee River AT Ft. Wayne

* until Monday afternoon.
* At 9 PM Thursday the stage was 20.0 feet and steady.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast…The river will rise to a crest near 20.2 feet around 8 AM Saturday June 20 and fall below flood stage around 5 PM Sunday June 21.
* At 20.0 feet…Some evacuations may be necessary in low, unprotected areas of River Haven.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 20.6 feet which occurred on Apr 19 2013.
