(May 20, 2015) – The 4th annual Fort Wayne Sport Club Charity Kickball Tournament will take place at Fort Wayne Sport Club, 3102 Ardmore Avenue in Fort Wayne starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27th. The proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Turnstone and TOPSoccer. “The Sport Club wanted to host an event outside of soccer in which it could utilize its facilities while giving to charitable organizations that fit into our mission of promoting soccer, fair-play and fun throughout the city of Fort Wayne, the region and beyond,” stated Dave Bennett, Director of Competitive Sports with the Fort Wayne Sport Club. “All while bringing more awareness to Fort Wayne’s hidden gem of a soccer and sporting facility.”
Take a step back to the playground of your childhood and bring together 10 pals to play kickball. Form a co-ed team of five male and five female players to participate in the Fort Wayne Sport Club’s 4th annual Charity Kickball Tournament. The entry fee is $300 per team which includes round robin tournament play, commemorative t-shirts, participant bags containing day of event favors and much more. Various sponsorship packages are also available. Visit the Sport Club website: www.fortwaynesportclub.com/events/kickball-tournament/ for more details on how to register a team or sponsor the event.
The Fort Wayne Sport Club is partnering with the Fort Wayne Sport & Social Club (www.facebook.com/fortwaynesocial) this year in an effort to enhance the tournament and create a more ‘festival-like’ atmosphere for the event. New elements are planned for the participants including Dodgeball games, live music, improved umpiring and food trucks. “It’s kickball … yeah! We have fun, laugh like kids on a playground and have a beer,” remarked Chris Collett, Distributor of All Things Awesome with Fort Wayne Sport & Social Club. “And it’s for great charities, so I don’t even feel bad. It’s the best day ever!” Also new in 2015 will be a Thursday evening captain’s meeting & celebration.
Turnstone’s mission is to provide therapeutic, educational, wellness and recreational programs to empower people with disabilities. As the only not-for-profit organization within northeast Indiana that provides a full range of rehabilitative, educational, wellness, athletic and recreational programs and facilities to persons with physical disabilities and their families, Turnstone is creating possibilities.
TOPSoccer is The Outreach Program for Soccer from US Youth Soccer. It is specifically designed to allow children with special needs to participate in sport of soccer. Any child with a special need can participate. The coaching staff consists of US Youth Soccer licensed coaches and volunteers from the Sport Club’s own soccer programs. There has been an instructor-to-child ratio of 1-to-1 in the past.
The Fort Wayne Sport Club was founded in 1927 by an active group of soccer players who immigrated to the Fort Wayne area from Germany in the aftermath of World War I. Their immediate goal was ‘the promotion of football (soccer) and German culture’ in the Northeast Indiana area. Today, the Fort Wayne Sport Club is a hub of soccer activity, with programs for recreational and competitive soccer players from age 4-years to 30-and-over. The German culture is celebrated in the many social events enjoyed by club members. “We are extremely proud of our long history and heritage of encouraging participation in soccer at all levels throughout the Fort Wayne area,” remarked Fort Wayne Sport Club President Dan Kruse.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available including an Event Tent sponsorship, a Scoreboard sponsorship and several Field sponsorships. For further information, to secure a sponsorship or to register a team, please contact Bennett at 260-750-0325 or.
