(April 9, 2015) — Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Chancellor Vicky L. Carwein issued the following statement today about language introduced in the Senate version of the biennial budget concerning the proposed IPFW Metropolitan University designation:
“I’ve had the opportunity to speak with Purdue University President Mitch Daniels, and our first impression is that this bill generally affirms the direction in which we have been trying to move.
“President Daniels in January made a request of the Commission for Higher Education to change the designation of IPFW to Metropolitan University. IPFW is fully supportive of this designation change.
“Both IPFW and Purdue will fully cooperate and participate in any further study directed by the Legislature.”
