News release from Trinity Episcopal Church:

Lenten Retreat at Trinity Episcopal Church

(February 11, 2015) – Trinity Episcopal Church will offer a Lenten Retreat on March 6 and 7 entitled “Benedictine Spirituality: Keys to Living Peacefully in Community”.

Abbott Andrew Marr, OSB, from St. Gregory’s Abbey in Three Rivers, MI., will be the retreat leader.

The cost to attend is $25 per person and attendance will be limited to the first 35 persons reserving space. Reservations and checks should be mailed to Trinity Episcopal Church, 611 West Berry, Fort Wayne 46802 with “Abbott Andrew” on the memo line of the check. Please also note any food allergies.

The tentative program for the weekend includes evening prayer and a dinner on Friday evening prior to Abbott Andrew’s talk on the history of the Benedictine Order.

Saturday’s program will focus on ways that persons can live peacefully in community followed by lunch and a wrap up question and answer session.

Abbott Andrew has written a book entitled “Tools for Peace: the Spiritual Craft of St. Benedict and Rene Girard”. In it he sets forth the premise that “real peace involves actively making connections between people and learning the art of giving priority to the needs of other people. The more we care for other people, the more we care for peace.” (ref: page xi and xii of the introduction to the book)
