News release from the Allen County Commissioners:
Meetings on Allen County Sewer Rate Ordinance to Reconvene Friday
(February 4, 2015) — The Allen County Board of Commissioners will reconvene its meetings Friday on two separate petitions objecting to a new rate ordinance adopted last month by the Allen County Regional Water and Sewer District.
Both meetings will be held in the Council Courtroom (Suite 035) of Citizens Square. The first meeting at 10:30 a.m. will be on the petition submitted by ratepayers of the Platter Parkway Group. The second meeting at 11 a.m. will be on the petition submitted by ratepayers of the Cedar Canyons/Cedar Shores Section.
The meetings follow last week’s public hearings on the two petitions. The commissioners must determine whether the water-sewer district’s board of trustees followed proper procedures when it adopted the ordinance and whether the increased rates and charges are just and equitable, according to the standards set by state law. The commissioners can then either sustain the ordinance establishing the rates and charges; sustain the petitions in opposition; or make any other ruling appropriate in the matter, subject to the standards set forth in the law.
