News release from the Allen County Public Information Office:

Commissioners to Hold Public Hearings on Allen County Water-Sewer Rate Ordinance

(January 20, 2015) — The Allen County Board of Commissioners today announced it will hold public hearings on two separate petitions objecting to a new rate ordinance adopted last month by the Allen County Regional Water and Sewer District.

Both hearings will be held on Friday, January 30, in the Council Courtroom (Suite 035) of Citizens Square. The first hearing at 11 a.m. will be on a petition submitted by ratepayers of the Platter Parkway Group. The second hearing at 1 p.m. will be on a petition submitted by ratepayers of the Cedar Canyons/Cedar Shores Section.

The hearings are a requirement of the state statute governing rates and charges for regional water, sewer and solid waste districts (IC 13-26-11). Following the two public hearings, it will be up to the Board of Commissioners to make its decision based on findings as required by state law. No action is expected to be taken immediately following the conclusion of the hearings.

Anyone unable to attend the hearings but wanting to be heard may send written comments to the Allen County Board of Commissioners, 200 East Berry St., Suite 410, Fort Wayne, IN 46802, or by email to commissioner@allencounty.us before 5:00 p.m. on January 29.
