Schnelker Marine launches Bass Pro Shops line at Outdoor Show

(January 15, 2015) — Indiana’s northeast region is roughly 100 miles away from the nearest Bass Pro Shop. But for the first time in Fort Wayne, official products and accessories will become readily available Jan. 23-25 at the Coliseum’s 6th annual Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show, and remain in the area.

Schnelker Marine Focus PowerSports out of New Haven, Ind. is now part of the Tracker Marine Group and carries Bass Pro branded products from the world’s No. 1 boat manufacturer. The exhibitor will make a splash at the show in a 40’x70′ area filled with Tracker aluminum and Nitro Performance bass fishing boats, Polaris ATV’s and side-by-sides, and Fish Pro-X Outfitters.

The group also carries Tahoe runabouts and deck boats, as well as Sun Tracker and Regency pontoon lines and will introduce a new bait and tackle shop to their business.

“We cater to the outdoor lifestyle,” said Terry Van Daele, owner of Schnelker Marine Focus PowerSports. “Whether it be a ranger for work on the farm, snowmobile to hit the trails or a boat for fun on the water—regardless of the season, we have something for you.”

Showgoers can take advantage of show-only specials on off-road vehicles, boats and motors, and find essential marine gear like tackle, rods, reels and fish finders.

“We’re very excited to offer Bass Pro Shops products, not just because of the wide variety that the brand offers, but it allows local customers to have a convenient, close-to-home retailer,” Van Daele said. “Before we supplied this line, clients would have to travel at least two hours to get to a Bass Pro Shops location.”

Professional anglers like Andy Buss, director of the largest local tournament trail (R & B Bass Circuit), who have fished on Lake Erie, Michigan and Wawasee, and literally every where in between, will host seminars on winter bass fishing, springtime techniques for river steelhead, tips on crankbaits and address if the color of a lure matters.

Over 100 exhibitors will cater to a wide range of sporting goods and services, and an expansive speaker series related to: biking, hiking, camping and fitness, hunting and fishing, boats and water sports, vacation and travel, RV’s and motorsports, cottage living and more.

Other prominent show features include an 80-foot fly-fish casting area and two fishing ponds, youth archery lessons, secure air rifle shooting range, chainsaw woodcarving demonstrations, bicycle and kayak test rides, energy efficient log cabin homes and the Coliseum’s first three-story high Timber Lake zipline.

STIHL Timberworks Lumberjack Shows as seen on MTV’s “The Real World” and “Road Rules” will entertain audiences all weekend long with ax throwing, log rolling, cross-cut sawing and speed climbing. And local military branches will test their stamina during the amateur Air Force vs. Marines, and Army vs. Navy competition Saturday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

The show has also adopted an all-around “Salute to Local Heroes” theme this year featuring the O’Daniel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram’s honor wall and memorabilia from the National Military History Center including a vintage 50-caliber water-cooled machine gun and historic 1938 French Latil Model M7T1 vehicle for sale.

Proceeds from zipline rides and the fishing pond will benefit Honor Flight Northeast Indiana all weekend long to send World War II, Korean and Vietnam war veterans on an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. to visit the war memorials. The nonprofit is also hosting Q&A sessions at the show to invite veterans and their families to learn more about the program.

From 3-5 p.m. Sunday, the show will close with entertainment from 2014’s “Best Country Performer” Hubie Ashcraft and fiddle accompaniment Travis Gow, along with a free Blue Bell ice cream social.

Cost is $10 for adults and is valid for re-admission all weekend. Children 12 and under are free. Two-dollar discount coupons are available on SportsandCabinShow.com. Mizpah Shrine Circus visitors (also at the Coliseum that same weekend) receive $2 off admission with a ticket stub, but is not valid combined with other offers.

Show hours are noon to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
