A Wind Chill Warning is in effect until January 8, 12:00 PM EST.

Today’s weather story from the National Weather Service:

Arctic chill & lake effect snow

(January 7, 2015) – Lake effect snow will bring hazardous conditions to the area today, especially near Lake Michigan. In addition to accumulations of 4 to 8 inches in areas under the heaviest snow bands, gusty winds will lead to blowing and drifting snow. Expect slick snow covered roads and rapidly changing visibility, often reduced to less than 1/4 mile. Elsewhere, expect light snow showers and accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. With the arctic front infiltrating the area, expect highs today to range from 2 to 13 degrees, coldest in the southwest. Wind chills will range from -5 to -20 F by the afternoon. Tonight will be frigid, with temperatures ranging from -11 to 3 F. Wind chills will range from -15 to -30. Stay indoors if possible. If going out, be sure to wear several layers of loose fitting clothing, a hat, and gloves.
