Mayor Henry to seek re-election

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will officially announce on Tuesday that he will be seeking re-election in this year’s municipal elections.

The announcement will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 11:30 am at the Bergstaff Place which is located at 2020 East Washington Boulevard.

He is currently serving his second term as Mayor. The Democrats have held the office since 2000 when Graham Richard took office. He served until the end of 2008 deciding not to seek a third term. Paul Helmke was the last Republican to hold the office.

If re-elected, Mayor Henry would be the first Democrat to hold the office for more than two terms. Charles Zollinger was mayor for six terms between 1873-1885.
