Fort Wayne International Airport traffic continues to climb in November

(December 15, 2014) – The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority reports that passenger traffic at Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) is up 7.4% over 2013. Through November, 294,498 passengers have boarded flights at FWA and 585,486 total passengers have traveled through the airport, 40,738 more than last year.

In November, FWA’s passenger capacity increased 24.8% over November 2013, or an extra 1,800 new seats leaving the market per week. This added capacity is the result of new service to Philadelphia and Charlotte provided by American Airlines/US Airways, as well as increased capacity in several existing markets – Chicago via United, Atlanta and Detroit via Delta, and Tampa/St. Pete and Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda via Allegiant.

“It’s been a great year at FWA. Staff has been able to bring in a lot of new capacity that has resulted in steady passenger growth,” said Scott Hinderman, Executive Director of Airports for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority. “We are excited to watch FWA’s traffic continue to increase as we continue to pursue even more capacity for the region.”

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures in November was 24. Service was offered to 10 nonstop markets: Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Orlando/Sanford, Tampa/St. Petersburg, and Fort Myers/Punta Gorda.
