4 Body Cams donated to FWPD

(December 11, 2014) – The Fort Wayne Police Department was the recipient of 4-body cams yesterday courtesy of Jerry and Linda Vandeveer and the Fraternal Order of Police Associate Lodge #6. In September the Vanderveers and the F.O.P.’s Associate Lodge #6, for which Linda is the president and Jerry a board member decided to buy the body cams and donate them to the department.

The Vanderveers purchased two of the body cams and the F.O.P. agreed to match their donation and purchased an additional two. In a meeting yesterday with chief Garry Hamilton, the Vanderveers presented the body cams to the department. Chief Hamilton stated, “With a funding stream yet to be determined to outfit our 200 uniform officers with body cams, we welcome this donation”, “They will assist us as we continue to evaluate the technology”.

The 4 body cams which cost $200 each will be given to the four patrol quadrants for testing and evaluation.
