Traffic Alert: State Boulevard Closes for Water Pipe Installation Monday
Closed for two weeks; detours in place Monday
(November 26, 2014) – In order to continue construction on the installation 30″ water main, State Boulevard will close for two weeks beginning Monday, December 1, 2014.
The road will be closed between Wells Street and Clinton Street for an estimated two weeks. During the closure traffic will be re-routed using several streets including Sherman, Wells, Putnam, Harrison, Main, Fourth, Clinton and Spy Run. (see attached map)

State will be open for residents living in the neighborhood between Clinton and Westbrook.
The large diameter feeder main will assist with redundancy and improve reliability for neighborhoods north of downtown. The 7000 foot pipe will run from Science Central to Fernhill Avenue. The entire pipe is expected to be completed by July.
