Today’s AroundFortWayne Sunday Series is an interview recorded on October 8, 2014. AFW sat down with Democrat challenger Thad Gerardot and talked about his campaign for the Indiana House District 81 seat against Republican incumbent Martin Carbaugh. Unfortunately, we have been unable to schedule an interview with Representative Carbaugh.

We talked about the following topics: an introduction and why Thad is running, the top 3 issues facing our state, legislative actions and how they effect local government, neighborhoods, education, oversight of universities, the friction between Governor Mike Pence and Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz, spending at IPFW, government’s role in economic, tax abatements (tax deferrals), public and mass transportation, the return of passenger rail service in our area, election reform, health care, criminal justice sentencing reforms, if the City of Fort Wayne should share in the costs of the criminal justice system with the County of Allen, the Allen County single county executive referendum, and HR 3 and the same-sex marriage fight.
