I&M outage update, 7/2/2014 at 4:19 pm
Crews have made great strides today as nearly 7,000 customers have been restored since 9:00 a.m. this morning, bringing the total outage count down under 40,000 – a 47% decrease from the peak.
In addition to the 900 personnel currently working, 157 line and forestry employees will be heading to the Michiana area this evening to assist with restoration efforts.

As residents continue to clean-up tree debris, we ask that customers be alert and on the lookout for downed wires hidden underneath tree branches. Members of the public should never touch any downed line, even if it does not appear to be energized, and report it to Indiana Michigan Power right away.
Customers should report their outage every 24 hours and can do so on their mobile device by visiting www.IndianaMichiganPower.com or by calling us at 1-800-311-4634 (IN) or 1-800-311-6424 (MI).
When using generators, customers are advised to thoroughly read instructions provided by the manufacturer and seek assistance from licensed electricians where appropriate. In addition to electrical safety, generators can produce carbon monoxide.
