Fatal Vehicle Crash – Pedestrian Struck

Incident Location: 2800 E. Pontiac St.Victim: Adult Male / Deceased
On June 5, 2014, at approximately 10:58 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2800 block of E. Pontiac St. on a report of an injury accident. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. The male was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
Initial reports indicate the male was in the roadway for an unknown reason, when he was struck by a car that was traveling westbound in the 2800 block of E. Pontiac St. The vehicle immediately stopped and waited for police. At this time it is unknown if alcohol played a role in this incident, nor is it known why the victim was in the roadway.
The 2800 block of E. Pontiac St. remained closed while the incident was investigated.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity.
