Over $102,000 raised for Let’s Give Allen County
Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) announces statistics for donations
(May 15, 2014) – Let’s Give Allen County was held Tuesday, May 6 as part of Give Local America, a celebration of 100 years of community foundations throughout the United States. Locally, Let’s Give Allen County raised $102,159. Give Local America raised $50 million in 24 hours.
YLNI helped the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne determine the five local nonprofits who would be the recipients of Let’s Give Allen County. YLNI targeted its network using a task force of volunteers, led by Heidi Colone.
“YLNI was honored to be chosen to assist the Community Foundation with this challenge,” Colone said. “We reached out to our network to help encourage donations from a new generation of citizens.”
The totals for the organizations are as follows:
- Community Harvest Food Bank – 86 gifts – $12,436
- Cornerstone Youth Center – 159 gifts – $17,861
- Fort Wayne Cinema Center – 205 gifts – $25,188
- Renaissance Pointe YMCA – 84 gifts – $10,210
- YWCA Northeast Indiana – 101 gifts – $11,464
From the total of 635 gifts, 226 were from donors under age 40, almost 36%. Matching funds and benchmark prizes were awarded to the organizations who met certain goals.
Because of the fundraising success, YLNI has established a donor advised fund with the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.
“We are extremely thrilled to help the Community Foundation reach out to young professionals,” said Sam Graves, president of YLNI. “This effort demonstrated to us that members of our network are invested in this community and want to help it succeed.”
Let’s Give Allen County was presented by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne in cooperation with Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI). The event was sponsored by: The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Phillips Financial, Rothberg Logan & Warsco LLP and Pizza Hut.
