On February 16, 2014, at approximately 4:31 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Fox Point Trail on an unknown problem (the callers were not answering the call taker’s questions, so the call taker could not ascertain exactly what was going on). Upon arrival, officers located two adult males outside suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). Both males were taken to a local hospital in serious condition, where one male was later downgraded to critical condition.

At 4:51 AM, the Fort Wayne Police Department was notified by a local hospital that two adult males were privately transported to the hospital, both suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). One of these males was said to be in good condition, the other in serious but stable condition.

At 4:56 AM, the Fort Wayne Police Department was notified by another local hospital that it too had an adult male transported privately there, also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). This male was said to be in good condition.

Upon searching the area, officers located evidence of an apparent disturbance in the intersection of E. Tillman Rd. and Lafayette St. Officers found shell casings and broken glass, indicating some type of disturbance took place in this intersection, involving gun fire. There were no victims, vehicles, or witnesses located at this scene.

Investigators are trying to piece together exactly what happened. At this point, it cannot be confirmed if all of the victims are related to the disturbance at Lafayette St and E. Tillman Rd. Victims will be interviewed at the earliest opportunities by detectives. Crime scene units continue to process the scene, collecting evidence. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood, searching for witnesses and any video surveillance from nearby businesses.
There are currently no suspects or suspect descriptions, and a motive has not been established. It is also too early to determine if gang activity played a role in this incident. No weapons have been recovered.

The intersection of Lafayette St. and E. Tillman Rd. remained closed while investigators processed the scene.

Any identities, suspect descriptions, or any other information will be released when it becomes available.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222, Fort Wayne Crime Stoppers, or use the anonymous reporting feature on www.fwpd.org.
