TinCaps to offer free parking and trolley for May 15th day game
Team adds new amenity to day game experience

(May 13, 2013) – Those attending the Fort Wayne TinCaps 11:05am day game on Wednesday, May 15th will have an additional parking option. The team announced today that they will be providing free parking located at 2400 West Jefferson Boulevard, adjacent to SweetCars and Westwood Lanes. Once game attendees have parked, they will be transported to Parkview Field by trolley directly to the South Gate of the ballpark.

“There is always sufficient parking downtown for day games,” stated TinCaps Vice President, Brian Schackow. “We wanted to making parking an even easier and more memorable experience, so we looked into the option of offering free parking and trolley rides. May 15th will be a trial run of what may become a regular part of day games in downtown Fort Wayne. It all depends on how many people choose to use this free parking service. If there is enough demand we will continue to provide it.”

The lot at 2400 West Jefferson Boulevard will be open for service at 10:00am with trolleys running every 15 minutes. Drop off will take place directly in front of the South Gate at Parkview Field. Trolleys will continue running until 45 minutes after the final out of Wednesday’s TinCaps game.

“We anticipate many fans parking at this free lot solely for the opportunity to ride the trolley,” said Schackow. “Being able to experience the ride into downtown Fort Wayne on a trolley is just another great experience to add to the beginning and end of a trip to the ballpark. We’re hoping this is successful and becomes a permanent addition to mid-week day games throughout the season.”

Currently, team officials plan to only offer this free lot and shuttle for the game on May 15th.

Fort Wayne TinCaps partner, Citilink, also reminds fans attending Parkview Field that riding the bus downtown is also a viable option. “With our new bus station on Baker Street we are in a prime location to serve ballpark attendees,” stated Citilink Assistant General Manager, Betsy Kachmar. “Each bus line comes through the downtown station right about first pitch – perfect timing from any part of our service area.”
