Mad Anthonys announces partnership of Charity Classic Pro-Am with Web.com Hotel Fitness Championship

(April 17, 2013) – Fort Wayne’s long-running high-profile golf event is teaming up with its newest high-profile golf event this summer.

The Mad Anthonys Charity Classic for Children will officially team up with the inaugural Web.com Hotel Fitness Championship to host the Mad Anthonys-Hotel Fitness Championship Pro-Am on Monday, August 26 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.

The 56th Annual Mad Anthonys Pro-Am will pair 112 local amateur players with pros from the PGA and Web.com tours participating later that week in the Hotel Fitness Championship. As part of the tour’s season final series, the hotel Fitness Championship will draw the Web.com tour’s top 75 money leaders a swell as PGA players ranking from 126-200 on the tour’s money list at the time. The annual Red Coat Dinner will kick-off the event on Sunday, August 25.

“We are very excited about this year’s event and our ability to continue our distinguished tradition of service to the Fort Wayne community,” said Don Banowetz, president of the Mad Anthonys. “And, most importantly, we are very excited about the chance to raise important funds for Children’s Hope House, especially as it begins the expansion of its facility in Fort Wayne.”

The partnership between Mad Anthonys and the Hotel Fitness Championship, based on the two organizations’ shared focus on golf, community and charity, enables Mad Anthonys to continue its long-standing tradition of providing the area’s premier one-day pro-am golf event while raising funds for its charity, the Children’s Hope House.

“The expansion of Hope House means an expansion in the number of families we can serve, which is what this is all about,” explained Cindy Atkinson, Executive Director of Children’s Hope House. “The Mad Anthonys board has shown great vision and leadership in partnering our event with the Hotel Fitness Championship, and we are grateful to Bruce Dye, Sycamore Hills and the Web.com tour for the chance to raise crucial funds for Hope House.”

Mad Anthonys and Hope House officials broke ground on the expansion in March. Once complete, the expanded facility will feature 10 family guest rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a stocked pantry, two living rooms, TV lounge, computer room, fitness room, meditation room and three laundry rooms to accommodate families of children with severe illnesses and conditions being treated at area hospitals. Since it opened nine years ago, the Children’s Hope House has served more than 4,000 families primarily residing in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.
