Fort Wayne’s Tony Mitchell named NBA Development League Co-player of the Month

(April 1, 2013, New York) – Rio Grande Valley’s Andrew Goudelock and Fort Wayne’s Tony Mitchell were today named NBA Development League Co-Players of the Month for games played in March. Goudelock was awarded Performer of the Week twice during March and Mitchell garnered the honor once.

Goudelock (6-3, 200, College of Charleston) led the Vipers to a 13-2 month and helped them clinch the Central Division title. He averaged 25.7 points on 54 percent shooting from the field to go with 6.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds. He scored a season-high 42 points on 16-of-30 shooting in a 118-105 win over the Tulsa 66ers on March 27. Goudelock scored in double figures in every game, including four games of at least 30 points. In 35 games for Rio Grande Valley this season, he is averaging 21.8 points, 5.9 assists 4.2 rebounds and 37.3 minutes.

Mitchell (6-6, 216, Alabama) helped the Mad Ants to a 10-3 record in March, averaging 22.1 points on 41 percent shooting from the floor, to go with 6.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 34.5 minutes. On March 22, he connected on a game-tying three-pointer as time expired in double overtime, then nailed a game-winning jumpshot in triple-overtime to lock down a 106-104 victory over Austin. Mitchell finished with a game-high 47 points, the second-highest total in the league this season. Mitchell’s strong month has pushed Fort Wayne to a 26-22 record, good for seventh overall in the NBA D-League.

Other top NBA D-League prospects considered for the honor were Austin’s JaMychal Green; Bakersfield’s Jerel McNeal; Canton’s Kyle Gibson; Erie’s Cory Higgins; Idaho’s Justin Holiday; Iowa’s Paul Harris; Los Angeles’ Courtney Fortson; Maine’s Chris Wright; Reno’s Samardo Samuels; Santa Cruz’s Hilton Armstrong; Springfield’s Kris Joseph; Sioux Falls’ Andre Barrett Texas’ Justin Dentmon; and Tulsa’s DeAndre Liggins, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
