URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTHERN INDIANA
903 PM EST MON MAR 4 2013

…WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE AREA TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT…

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS WILL MOVE INTO THE MID MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY BY EARLY TUESDAY. SNOW ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA FROM WEST TO EAST TUESDAY MORNING AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH LATE TUESDAY EVENING BEFORE DIMINISHING IN INTENSITY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED IN THE WARNING AREA WITH 3 TO 5 INCHES IN THE ADVISORY AREA.

* TIMING…LIGHT SNOW OVERNIGHT WILL PICK UP IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY DURING THE MID TO LATE MORNING HOURS TUESDAY. THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH A PORTION OF THE OVERNIGHT HOURS TUESDAY NIGHT WITH SNOW TAPERING OFF WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BY LATE TUESDAY NIGHT.

* PERIODS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL RESULT IN SNOW COVERED ROADS AND HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS.
