Shooting Investigation

Incident Date: September 2, 2012

Incident Time: 3:02 AM

Incident Location: 1700 E. Wayne Street

Victims: Adult Male, Age 30, Critical Condition

On Sunday, September 02, 2012, at approximately 3:02 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1700 block of E. Wayne Street reference a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a male adult victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. The victim’s condition was downgraded to critical condition at the hospital.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking in this area when he was fired upon and struck at least twice by gunfire. Witnesses reported seeing a Cadillac, beige or silver in color, backing up and away from the area. A firearm was discovered nearby when officers surveyed the area for potential evidence. Detectives continue to interview possible witnesses at the scene, and Crime Scene Technicians continue to process the scene for additional evidence.

No arrests have been made and there is no suspect(s) information at this time.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
