Critical Injury Hit-Skip Accident, Toddler Struck

Date / Time: September 2, 2012 / 4:55 PM

Location: 4900 Oliver Street

Victim: Male, age 3; critical condition

 

Suspect Vehicle: Green, older-style Mini-Van

Suspect Driver: Male Black

On Sunday, September 2, 2012 at approximately 4:55 pm, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4900 block of Oliver Street reference a report of a personal injury accident wherein a three-year old male was struck by a vehicle. The three-year old victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to police arriving. Witnesses provided suspect vehicle information and suspect driver information to officers, and a vehicle matching the description and believed to be the suspect vehicle was located in the 200 block of W. Oakdale Drive. This vehicle has since been towed by officers for processing by Crime Scene Technicians. The suspect driver has not been located.

The 4900 block of Oliver Street was closed to traffic while the F.A.C.T. (Fatal Alcohol Crash Team) processed the scene. The F.A.C.T. is composed of specially-trained investigators of the Fort Wayne Police Department and the New Haven Police Department. This incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
