Personal Injury Accident Involving Semi Tractor/Trailer

Date/Time of Incident: 07/30/2012 at 11:26 a.m.

Location of Incident: Coliseum Blvd at Lake Avenue.

Victims: Male Adults (2) – One (1) of the males was transported to a local hospital for treatment

On Monday, July 30, 2012 at approximately 11:26 a.m., officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Coliseum Blvd. and Lake Avenue in reference to a personal injury accident. This motor vehicle crash involved five (5) vehicles and was caused when a semi tractor/trailer rig rear ended a white cargo van. The white cargo van and other vehicles involved were stopped for traffic at the intersection. The impact from the semi created a chain reaction accident involving five (5) vehicles. There were two reported injuries. An adult male was transported to a local hospital for treatment in fair condition. None of the reported injuries appear to be critical.

The white cargo van was reported to contain a load of human blood from the American Red Cross. Officials with the Red Cross were immediately contacted and alternate transport arrived and removed the boxes containing the human blood. No human blood from the boxes was believed to be damaged.

This crashed tied up northbound traffic on Coliseum Blvd for over one (1) hour. The driver of the semi was cited for a traffic infraction.
