House fire at 1701 Bayer Avenue
The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to multiple calls of an explosion with a house leveled at 1701 Bayer Ave. Crews arrived within minutes to confirm the reports. One person was home at the time and was already pulled to safety when firefighters arrived. That individual was transported to the hospital. No identification or condition is available at this time. Crews worked set a debris barrier as multiple houses and cars were affected. No other injuries were reported. Crews remain on the scene and are working with Nipsco, AEP and Neighborhood code as equipment is brought in to remove debris and extinguish any residual fire. Investigators are continuing to probe the cause. Any further updates will be reported as they become available. TRAA and FWPD assisted at the scene.
