Dr. Tony Bennett Statement on Re-election Campaign
(INDIANAPOLIS, June 14, 2012) – Dr. Tony Bennett issued the following statement today welcoming one of the Democrat candidates to the race for State Superintendent of Public Instruction:
“As a lifelong educator, I believe the next decade will be one of the most critical in preparing Indiana children for the global economy that awaits them. I look forward to a campaign this year that offers a positive discussion focused on advancing the academic performance of Indiana’s students. Our state’s graduation rate has never been higher, student performance is improving every year, and we’re making big strides to ensure we have an effective, quality teacher in every classroom.”
After spending nearly ten years as a local classroom teacher, Dr. Bennett went on to serve as both a principal and local school superintendent. He has carried this experience, as well as his passion for education, into his current position as State Superintendent.
In addition, local Indianapolis Public Schools teacher Spencer Lloyd has offered the following in support of Dr. Bennett’s re-election effort.
“Tony Bennett isn’t afraid to make tough decisions that put our students first. We’re all better off for his bold, unwavering leadership and I’m proud to support him for re-election,” Lloyd said.
